Nigel McGuinness is all set to combat Bryan Danielson in the upcoming episode of AEW Grand Slam: Dynamite. In a recent interaction with TV Insider, he shared insights about stepping back in the ring after a hiatus of 13 years. He will be seen making his return at All In 2024. He also discussed realizations that led to his return, his preparation phase, and much more.
Here are some notable excerpts from his interview:
When asked about the moment he realized he was gearing up for a comeback, McGuinness shared, “The realization struck me around 18 months back when I got to know we were planning a show at Wembley and there were chances I could step in the ring against Bryan. My preparation began with in-ring practice, regular gym sessions, doing stretching exercises, and more, to build up the right in-ring agility. Honestly, I felt ready for last year’s Wembley. This year, I was more than prepared. My focus has always been to sustain as much as I possibly can.”
Touching upon the response he received on his return at All In, he expressed, “It was an extraordinary experience, almost felt unreal. My perspective about life changed completely after that. I was unsure about the kind of response I’d receive, whether I’d be remembered, and by how many. The moment I entered, I was overwhelmed by the wave of euphoria and emotions from the audience who were anticipating the match. Any nervousness or anxiety that I had disappeared with their reaction. They joined me in my journey, leading to a life-altering experience.”
