In the latest episode of his “Extreme Life” podcast, TNA seasoned pro, Matt Hardy vented his thoughts on various topics including the storyline of the Death Riders, the assist of The Young Bucks in enabling Jon Moxley to hold onto his AEW World Title in a face-off with Swerve Strickland at AEW Dynasty 2025, among other issues.
Excerpts from Hardy’s podcast are as follow:
Talking about The Young Bucks stepping in for Jon Moxley during the AEW World Title competition, he stated: “I’ve not formally watched it yet, only seen some bits on social platforms. Like I said earlier, even prior to the pay-per-view event, I feel that the narrative concerning the Death Riders has almost exhausted its relevance. As a character, I greatly admire John Moxley. In a lot of aspects, John Moxley can be considered as the embodiment and lifeblood of AEW. He has given his all for AEW and has pushed himself to the limit to ensure the brand’s success. However, I quite don’t get the recent characterization of Jon Moxley as the chief of the Death Riders and somewhat the purpose of their existence. I find the group’s goal and their ultimate aim at AEW rather vague.
“I feel it’s about time to shift gears and introduce a new story to the AEW narrative. This by no means undermines Jon Moxley’s commitment. He gives his best, takes fierce risks and consistently showcases amazing performances week after week for AEW. But it’s time to alter course and spring up something new that can grasp the fans’ attention. Given the current state of AEW, they seriously need something stimulating to regain their rapidly slipping momentum.”
Speculating on Moxley’s successor he reckons, “It’s fascinating. I understand your bias for Will Ospreay, and that he is a strong possibility of being the next title holder. I’m eager to discover the route AEW will take with him beyond just being the world’s finest wrestler.”
