Wrestler Drew McIntyre has expressed his pleasure at seeing his friends thrive outside of WWE.
In a recent live session on TikTok, McIntyre was probed for his opinion on Tony Khan’s All Elite Wrestling promotion. His reaction was,
“I take delight in watching all forms of wrestling, particularly when I have time off. I remember when I was out for three months, and only one person reached out to me during that period. That was my chance to get up to speed with everything. IMPACT, AEW, New Japan, the independents. It brings me joy to see so many people whom I’m friends with earning a full-time income. This was not the scenario when I was let go in 2014 and had to redefine what being a professional wrestler meant, leveraging social media as I still do at the top tier. This has been ongoing since 2014. To revamp myself, to witness the tremendous growth of the industry in those three years, leading to so many places and numerous people earning a full-time livelihood. It’s wonderful.”
Post his release from WWE, McIntyre had been associated with TNA/Impact Wrestling.
In other news, Ring of Honor has publicized that the “Zero Hour” pre-show for Final Battle 2024 will feature four matches.
On Thursday, the company revealed that the matches would be Harley Cameron versus Hanako, The Infantry taking on The Undisputed Kingdom, The Dark Order battling The Grizzled Young Veterans, and Lee Johnson & EJ Nduka squaring off against Gates of Agony.
