Dominik Mysterio has expressed his objective of surpassing his father Rey Mysterio’s record WWE Championship reign. Rey was WWE Champion in July 2011 for a brief period before losing the title to John Cena at a RAW episode. In a recent interview with ESPN Daytona, Dominik, aka “Dirty Dom,” said he was determined to break his father’s record.
He stated, “With the legacy that Cody’s building on on SmackDown for the Undisputed Title… my deadbeat dad ended up holding the World Title two times. Then, he ended up winning the WWE title just once for, I believe, it was maybe 30 minutes, and then Cena came back and took it from him.” He added his desire to beat his father’s 30-minute WWE Champion record and hinted at aiming for the WWE Undisputed Title.
The upcoming event WWE SummerSlam 2024 will feature a match between Damian Priest and GUNTHER for the World Heavyweight Championship.
In a related note, Maven recently shared his views on the unspoken rules of the wrestling industry on his YouTube channel. He focused on the topic of wrestlers not boasting about their title wins. He recalled his own experience of winning the Hardcore Title from The Undertaker, emphasizing that it was the writing team’s decision and not his own victory.
He advised young wrestlers to keep their egos in check and respect the process, as the journey to a championship involves many people’s hard work and decisions.
