In a highly anticipated match-up, Thea Hail is scheduled to take on Roxanne Perez, vying for the title of NXT Women’s Champion, in tonight’s episode of WWE NXT: Great American Bash. She recently sat down with the Pittsburgh City Paper and opened up about her thoughts, expectations for the match and her learnings from seasoned wrestlers, Andre Chase and Duke Hudson.
Hail shared her key takeaways from the conversation:
On her preparation for the match, she stated, “I’m incredibly excited, overflowing with energy, and somewhat unpredictable. I understand the need to pause, breathe, and contemplate this match fully, developing a strategic plan which goes beyond my usual approach. I tend to be impulsive, so this time, I need to adopt a more focused approach and get my mind ready for the challenge.”
She also opened up on the invaluable lessons she has learned from Andre Chase and Duke Hudson. “Their cumulative wisdom, stemming from diverse experiences, is awe-inspiring. Duke comes from Australia while Chase has wrestled in the Ring of Honor, teaming up with his brother. They have an impressive collection of laurels, having learned from a myriad of colleagues with distinct skills and knowledge. They have been instrumental in shaping my journey as a wrestler and I am grateful for their help.”
Hail’s path towards the NXT Women’s Championship resonates with her competitive spirit. “I have been nurtured in competitive sports; the drive to win is innate. You want to be the best, the triumphant one. I often feel that people underestimate me due to my age, height, and size. However, I believe that determination and hard work outweigh them all.”
When asked about her aspiration if she wins the title, she said, “The core philosophy of Chase U is to never be complacent, to always strive for progress. Winning the title doesn’t imply the end of the journey; I aim to be a champion who is ready to take on challenges, prove my mettle and express my gratitude for the support I’ve received.”
