WWE Roadblock special episode of NXT witnessed a robust competition between the NXT and TNA Wrestling teams. Two matches were held between champions from each side. However, unlike Giulia and Stephanie Vaquer’s title-for-title match, in this case, only one team’s belts were actually at stake.
Nevertheless, the possibility of winning titles certainly heightened the levels of the competition. It was time for Superstars to prove their mettle and protect their gold.
The Hardy Boyz and Fraxiom went head-to-head to end the debate of who presently is the world’s best tag team — especially concerning where NXT and TNA stands; as #DIY claims to be the BTTITW.
The match was held only for the TNA World Tag Team Championship titles. The NXT Tag Team Championships were left unchallenged with Axiom and Nathan Frazer. Fraxiom fought valiantly in a bid to become double champions. However, a crucial mistake where Axiom accidentally executed a missile dropkick on his partner gave The Hardy Boyz a chance to turn around the fight. They executed a Twist of Fate, followed by a Swanton Bomb to secure victory.
Meanwhile, only the NXT World Championship was up for grabs in the fight where NXT’s Ruler, Oba Femi was pitted against “The Face of the Franchise” Moose in a “Titan vs. Titan” match. The X-Division champion and leader of The System, Moose, was arguably the most formidable contender Femi had faced. Nonetheless, it still wasn’t enough to defeat him.
With strengths being nearly matched throughout the game, Femi managed to retain his title by overpowering Moose with a powerbomb, fulfilling what The Undertaker advised him to do before the match: defend his turf.
We would love to hear your views on these title defenses. Do you think these matches definitively resolved who is the absolute best between Femi/Moose and The Hardy Boyz / Fraxiom? Or do you believe there is a basis for a rematch in the future? Please share your opinions in the comments section below!
