Adam Cole is in the healing phase after an ankle fracture during the AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam show.
The incident took place as he hastened into the ring during the AEW World Title bout featuring MJF and Samoa Joe. Cole then jumped from the entrance ramp down to the ringside area, which led to a visible limp during his actions that followed.
Originally, Cole and MJF were set to protect their ROH Tag Team Titles at the event AEW WrestleDream 2023. Despite the absence of his partner due to the injury, MJF carried on with the title defense in a one-against-two showdown and eventually preserved the titles. Taking a step back from the limelight, Cole continued to make occasional appearances on television, including segments with Roderick Strong in the latter’s home.
In a surprising turn of events, Cole was unveiled as ‘The Devil’ at the AEW Worlds End 2023 event. Following the loss of the World Heavyweight Title, he took a surprising break from television. Cole made a comeback to confront MJF, only to be caught off guard by MJF’s comeback at AEW Double Or Nothing 2024, where Cole’s ex-tag team companion attacked him.
Based on a release from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, it is anticipated that due to the severity of the injury, Cole’s recovery will extend further. However, on a more encouraging note, Cole has been able to start walking again and is making advancements in regaining his full mobility.
