The scandal that has resulted in Vince McMahon stepping down from WWE & TKO is just the tip of the iceberg, according to Paul London.
McMahon resigned last week following a lawsuit by Janel Grant, an ex-WWE employee who alleges that McMahon was sexually abusive and trafficked her to other men.
On a recent edition of the “Cafe de Rene” podcast, London addressed the matter and he believes that what has transpired so far is merely scratching the surface. He said,
“I’m not surprised by any of it. I wouldn’t say I called it but I mean, this is the tip of the iceberg. This is the tip of the iceberg, you know? Hopefully, more people will come forward and add credibility to what’s already been revealed. You’ve got to think that for the Wall Street Journal to go as in-depth as they did, I don’t know, [I’m] anxious to see what happens.”
London was previously in a relationship with the late Ashley Massaro, who had alleged that she was sexually assaulted on a U.S. military base during a WWE tour of Kuwait.
Massaro alleged that WWE apologized but persuaded her not to report it to the authorities. After she died in 2019, WWE executives said they were not informed of the allegations.
The recent scandal involving Vince McMahon, the former CEO of WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment) and TKO, has sent shockwaves through the wrestling industry. McMahon stepped down from his position after being sued by Janel Grant, a former WWE employee who accused him of sexual abuse and trafficking. However, according to Paul London, a former WWE wrestler, this scandal is just the tip of the iceberg.
In a recent episode of the “Cafe de Rene” podcast, London shared his thoughts on the matter. He expressed that he was not surprised by the allegations against McMahon and believes that there is much more to be uncovered. London stated, “This is the tip of the iceberg, you know? Hopefully, more people will come forward and add credibility to what’s already been revealed.”
London’s comments suggest that there may be more victims who have yet to come forward with their experiences. He also mentioned the in-depth investigation conducted by the Wall Street Journal, which implies that there may be additional revelations in the future.
London’s perspective is particularly significant considering his past relationship with Ashley Massaro, a former WWE wrestler who passed away in 2019. Massaro had previously alleged that she was sexually assaulted on a U.S. military base during a WWE tour of Kuwait. She claimed that WWE apologized but convinced her not to report the incident to authorities. After her death, WWE executives stated that they were unaware of the allegations.
These revelations highlight the importance of addressing and preventing sexual abuse within the wrestling industry. The allegations against McMahon and the potential for more victims coming forward shed light on a larger issue that needs to be addressed and resolved.
It is crucial for organizations like WWE to take these allegations seriously and implement measures to ensure the safety and well-being of their employees. This includes creating a safe reporting environment for victims to come forward without fear of retaliation and conducting thorough investigations into any allegations of misconduct.
The wrestling industry as a whole must also take this opportunity to reevaluate its culture and practices. It is essential to promote a culture of respect, consent, and accountability, where all individuals are treated with dignity and their voices are heard.
As the investigation into Vince McMahon and the allegations against him continues, it remains to be seen what further revelations will come to light. However, it is clear that this scandal has sparked an important conversation about the need for change within the wrestling industry. Only by addressing these issues head-on can the industry move towards a safer and more inclusive future.
