The reigning AEW TBS Champion Mercedes Mone is renowned for her unique birthday celebrations, creating a new standard for herself as a CEO.
In the most recent issue of her “Mone Mag” newsletter, Mone gave insights into how her January 26 birthday has a significant tie to WWE’s Royal Rumble. She reflected on her birthday by stating:
“For me, birthdays aren’t about cake and candles; they’re about the roar of the crowd and the thrill of the ring. As a wrestler whose birthday often falls near Royal Rumble time, my special day has become anything but traditional. Instead of parties, I’ve spent birthdays in high-stakes matches, surrounded by fellow wrestlers and the electric energy of passionate fans.
“The excitement of the Royal Rumble, with its surprises and jaw-dropping moments, turned my birthdays into a rush of adrenaline and joy. Sure, I get the occasional small gift from friends, but the real celebration is performing in front of an audience that makes every moment unforgettable.”
Interestingly, Mone’s birthday coincided with the Royal Rumble pay-per-view event only once during her tenure with the main squad. This rare occurrence happened during the 2020 event.
Mone, who wrestled under the moniker Sasha Banks, wasn’t on the fight card for the show. After her departure from WWE in 2022, she made her move to AEW earlier this year.
