In his recent visit to the “2 Bears 1 Cave” podcast, Cody Rhodes shared his insights about the young wrestlers’ unfamiliarity with his legendary father, Dusty Rhodes, attributing it to the fact that Dusty’s era of wrestling took place many decades ago.
Rhodes expressed his understanding for this, saying, “Yes, and I’ve learned not to hold any resentment towards them for not knowing what they don’t know, right? That era was a long time ago. We picture Macho Man (Randy Savage) and (Hulk) Hogan as if they were stars just yesterday, but it has been close to 30 years. It’s a vast span of years. You reflected to me about the Von Erichs, now ‘The Iron Claw’ is absent. This is before the era of ‘The Iron Claw.’ I won’t hold it against them for not being aware, but the fact is, our understanding of pro wrestling comes from those who had a successful monetary run. That’s the only way. In the gorilla position, we have stalwarts like Michael Hayes, Paul Heyman, Triple H among a few others. They’ve been through the rigors, so the upcoming ones should go to them for guidance. Don’t approach me. I’m like, ‘Refer yourselves to them. They possess the right solutions.’ I sense the transmission of knowledge. Though, this is still a matter of concern. You feel like, ‘Hey, we have to keep this motion alive while hitting these record-breaking heights and phenomenal business.’ It’s worrisome, yet you cannot blame them for it.”
Rhodes is preparing to put his Undisputed WWE Championship on the line against Kevin Owens in an upcoming, heated Ladder Match at the highly anticipated 2025 Royal Rumble pay-per-view event.
Additionally, Rhodes disclosed his professional commitments for the month of January which feature a number of RAW showings. Discover more details by clicking here.
