On a recent episode of “The Takedown” podcast, Adam Copeland spoke about his comeback to AEW with great enthusiasm and passion, particularly regarding a potential face-off with AEW World Champion Jon Moxley.
Copeland made his AEW comeback at the Worlds End 2024 event, allied with FTR to challenge Moxley and the Death Riders.

Discussing his eagerness to fight Moxley, Copeland stated: “I still get amped up. I still get excited when I think about [pro wrestling]. For me, just the idea of doing that, getting that match, seeing that on a billboard, Copeland versus Mox, to me that’s a must-see match. The deliberation of where and when to do it comes secondary to the fact that I’m returning and now is the time to set up this match and spin this narrative.”
On what role he intends to play in AEW, he said: “I’ve often referred to myself as a pinch hitter. Where am I needed? At this moment, we’re focusing on Max. You need a well-known face? Consider it done. If I’m currently required for something, then let’s go with a bout between me and Mox. I prioritize current needs over a trajectory of progressing from one story to another. It is more about the needs of the company and how I can fulfil them. If you need me in this capacity right now, especially with an Emmy nomination to my credit, I’m on board. Just point me in the right direction and I’ll be on my way.”
When asked about other wrestlers he’d be interested in going up against in AEW, he added: “There’s a plethora of contenders in AEW. Aside from Mox, there’s Omega, Hangman, Jay White, Kyle Fletcher, Will Ospreay, Swerve Strickland, Bobby Lashley. Now that is a matchup yet to be seen. And how about Samoa Joe? That’s also unprecedented. And don’t forget the likes of MJF. The list just goes on and on and it’s an endless array of opportunities.”
