On the renowned “WWE Vault” video platform, WWE Hall of Fame honouree Kevin Nash looks back at his eminent career. He specifically highlighted his championship fight with Bret Hart at the monumental WWE Survivor Series 1995, proclaiming it as the greatest match in which he has ever partaken.
Below are a few standout moments from the video:
Bret Hart Teaching Kevin Nash the Ropes of a Main Event: “The match I hold dearest is the one with Bret. Our first significant collaboration was during King of the Ring; it was a battle between the IC and World champions. I believe the location was Baltimore, but I can’t quite recall. Neidhart intervened causing Diesel to win by disqualification. Bret was my guide into understanding the main event. His generosity was astounding, his moves were tight yet secure, his psychology impeccable. He was my ideal opponent, the perfect David to my Goliath.”
The Survivor Series Match Taking on en Edge with Violence: “Our use of a chair hadn’t been seen in over a year. With our evolution from wrestling company to Disney competitors, there was a concerted effort to lessen the product’s violence. However, for our bout, all holds were barred, it was essentially a no disqualification match. We began, each removing a turnbuckle. in one memorable moment, for the first time, someone was directed through the Spanish announce table, courtesy of Bret’s call.”
His Most Remarkable Match being the One Where He Surrendered the World Title: “To those in the league and fans alike, I made it clear to the team I wanted to be displayed prominently when I suffered defeat, get my message across. I used this opportunity to rectify what a tumultuous 11 months had done to my character. In just 20 minutes, I could correct the course. It’s somewhat unusual, for someone to declare the match they lost their World Championship as their finest, yet, that was the case for me.”
