On Monday, the news broke that Joe Alonzo is leaving the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA).
In a conversation with MuscleManMalcolm, Alonzo explained his decision to exit from Billy Corgan’s company. He stated,
“I was informed, ‘You’re in the public eye and people are intrigued about how you’ll manage this, so ensure you behave professionally.’ From the time I started with NWA, I was fully aware that this is not the pinnacle of my career, and I don’t wish to upset anyone, but it is a necessary stepping stone towards larger and higher platforms.”
Alonzo added, “I was aware that my association with NWA would be temporary when I signed up. They requested me to stay on, but their proposal didn’t meet my expectations. I queried if they could improve their offer, and they did, but the time duration of the contract was too lengthy for me. One thing that’s been reiterated in the last few weeks that led to this decision is the fact that no amount of money can purchase time, and no one can guarantee time. I believe leaving is the best choice for me. There’s been some skepticism about my decision, but I stand by it because when you take a gamble on yourself, you can’t go wrong, and if things don’t pan out as expected, you have nobody but yourself to hold accountable.”
