WWE Hall of Fame inductee Lawrence Robert Shreve, popularly known as Abdullah The Butcher, is currently grappling with health challenges. The wrestler has been admitted to a hospital in Georgia where he is undergoing therapy for a gut-related medical problem that has kept him in the hospital for nearly a fortnight.
To cover the costs of a hip replacement surgery that Abdullah needs, a GoFundMe campaign has been initiated. They aim to raise a sum of ,000 to finance his medical procedure.
Below are the key details of the fundraising initiative:
“Esa here. You might recognize me as the beloved god-daughter of Lawrence Shreve – better known as Abdullah The Butcher – who is not only a legend and a Professional Wrestling Hall of Famer, but also a fantastic humanitarian. He has spent most of his life working towards causes that are close to his heart including helping his family, friends, youth, the elderly, those confined to the hospital, homeless, and various organizations in Atlanta, Georgia. He’s now 83. Living on a fixed income, walking with the aid of a walker and in dire need of a hip replacement. His financial situation and health condition have taken a toll on his earnings. This is a difficult time for him, and he needs your help.
He has devoted most of his adult life to developing his professional wrestling career and has sadly been exploited by those closest to him, including his ex-wife and her brother. It was a horrific blow when he discovered his wife, whom he had met in Japan and who hails from Korea, owned all the assets he had worked so hard to acquire, and he essentially owns nothing.
His first purchase, a house in Atlanta, Georgia, acquired long before he met his ex-wife, was taken over by her and her brother without his prior knowledge or consent. To add insult to injury, one or two loans were taken out against the house, and she recently divorced him – again without his knowledge.
This is just the tip of the iceberg of his ordeal. Currently, he is battling an eviction notice and faces the threat of being expelled from his house, bought in 1977, well before his marriage. His estranged wife took hold of his identity nearly 12 years ago, crippling his credit score. Eviction looms over him as he anxiously awaits a court hearing, desperately searching for somewhere to live so he and his belongings aren’t turfed out onto the streets.
Fortunately, Malika has been there for him, endlessly communicating with the court so his house remains his, for now. The goal at hand is to raise as much as possible to support him in his time of need. I believe the combine stress of his legal and health issues led to his hospitalization. He needs your prayers, support, and donations, and I give you my word that every cent will be used to aid him. I appreciate your time, efforts, and most importantly, your support for this remarkable legend and humanitarian. Thank you and May God Bless You All.”
