Yen Press To Release ‘New Japan Academy’ Digitally On November 10
A manga series based on the exploits of New Japan Pro Wrestling’s best and brightest reimagined to be high school students is headed for a digital release this week. Yen Press has announced that New Japan Academy will be available for purchase on November 10. The series follows Tetsuya Naito as he takes on his New Japan rivals in a whole new setting. Yen Press describes the book thusly on their website:
It’s the stars of New Japan Pro Wrestling as you’ve never seen them before! Teenager Tetsuya Naito is aiming for the top of New Japan Academy, but in order to be the champion, he’ll have to face formidable students like “Rainmaker” Kazuchika Okada and the “Once-in-a-Century Talent” Hiroshi Tanahashi. Luckily for Naito, he has his boys in Los Ingobernables de Japon on his side! No matter the odds, Naito’s motto remains the same: Tranquilo (quiet).
With the rise in the worldwide popularity of New Japan Pro Wrestling, the manga New Japan Academy is a highly anticipated release by the many passionate fans of the pro-wrestling promotion and the stars within it.
New Japan Academy was published in Japan starting in June 2018 and came to an end earlier this year. Yen Press’s release this week comprises of the first of two volumes, so those waiting to get the whole story will have to wait for a second release, likely coming sometime in 2021.
