In a recent discussion with Adrian Hernandez, former WWE superstar and TNA producer, Gail Kim, shed some light on the difficulties she experienced leading up to her departure from the wrestling ring.
It was on February 3, 2018, that Kim supposedly had her last wrestling showdown for Southside Wrestling which took place in Stevenage, United Kingdom. In an exciting primary event, she emerged victorious against Kasey Owens.
Upon ceasing her professional wrestling career in the ring, she joined the ranks of TNA Wrestling, taking on the role of a producer and agent. In her official last match under TNA Rebellion, which transpired on April 28, 2019, she succumbed to Tessa Blanchard.
The highlights of the discussion are featured below:
Gail Kim on life after retirement: “I confess, retirement was not a walk in the park. I make it a point to have forthright conversations with individuals who are contemplating retirement near the conclusion of their career. I counsel them to tread with caution and have a clear plan in mind. Personally, when I began experiencing difficulty in walking post-matches, I decided that I had to consider retirement. I didn’t want my fans watching me decline.”
Her deep emotional connection with wrestling: “This may sound funny, but nothing except wrestling moves me to tears. Raw emotion is not something I typically indulge in, however, when it comes to wrestling, it overwhelms me. It was indeed a momentous occasion when I didn’t shed a tear at my own wedding but witnessing the girls produce magic in the ring truly tugs at my heartstrings. I find myself brimming with emotion.”
