After NXT TakeOver 31 it was announced that both Adam Cole and Velveteen Dream were injured and that there would be updates on NXT Champion Finn Balor and challenger Kyle O’Reilly on this week’s NXT episode. NXT commentator Wade Barrett expects both wrestlers to be hurt for a while due to the brutal nature of their bout.
“I would be surprised if either of those two athletes are in shape to perform in the coming days or weeks since they were so brutal,” Barrett said on WWE’s The Bump. “Both were bleeding from the mouth. I don’t know if it was from internal damage or perhaps broken jaws or anything like that. I know immediately after the match the doctors and medical staff were checking them over. Those two went hell for leather during that match. Nothing but respect. Finn won the match in the end, but that is definitely not the last time you see Kyle O’Reilly in a main event singles match in NXT. He’s going to be around for a long time to come.”
We’ll find out more on the status of both Balor and O’Reilly tonight.
