Tony Khan was sure to cover all bases as the AEW President didn’t want history to repeat itself with Turner Broadcasting.
Dave Meltzer is reporting in his latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Khan went to Turner executives before the January 15 episode Dynamite to assure everything was copacetic regarding Chris Jericho stabbing Jon Moxley in the eye with a spike in his jacket. Last time something to this effect went down, Crockett Promotions had The Road Warriors use their spike to jam into Dusty Rhodes’ eye in 1988 and the TBS folks were furious.
According to Meltzer, the other tidbit that Khan got the okay on was MJF’s shirt that took a dig at DDP and his daughter, Lexi Nair, who happened to appear in her first ever interview last night on Dynamite. MJF’s shirt said, “I banged Dallas’ daughter.” Meltzer states in all actuality MJF and Lexi are good friends and she actually enjoyed the idea. MJF happened to get the idea from the infamous Greg Valentine shirt, “I broke Wahoo’s leg,” referencing his feud with the legendary Wahoo McDaniel.
