The head of AEW, Tony Khan, has publicly declared that the contract of Tomohiro Ishii, well-known NJPW wrestler, will be extended to keep him in AEW over the summer period.
In a move that aligns with Ishii’s recent withdrawal from the NJPW G1 Climax 34 contest, his first absence since 2012, he is set to focus his time and energy exclusively on AEW.
Expressing his gladness over this development, Khan shared on Twitter, “It’s so great having @njpwglobal all-time legend Tomohiro Ishii here in AEW on Wednesday Night #AEWDynamite TONIGHT! We love having Ishii here + now he’s going to stay here in @AEW with us for the rest of summer 2024! AEW is on fire right now! Thank you all + God bless you all!”
In the most recent AEW Dynamite face-off, Ishii fought against PAC, Kyle Fletcher, and Claudio Castagnoli in a fiercely contested Global Glory-4 Way match. PAC emerged victorious, winning the match through submission.
