Despite being retired for nearly four years now, The Undertaker says he struggles with it and often gets the itch to return.

Speaking on a recent edition of his “Six Feet Under” podcast, The Dead Man opined on his retirement, if the desire to come back gets bigger during WrestleMania season, and more.

You can check out some highlights from the podcast below:

On his retirement: “For me, it was extremely tough. I still struggle with it. This will light up the internet. I just got back from Australia. I was having a moment. I looked over at Michelle [Undertaker’s wife Michelle McCool] and we’re trying to get on the same page since I’ve been gone. I was like, ‘I’m thinking about maybe coming back.’ She looked at me for like 15 seconds. ‘Are you freaking kidding me? You would risk all the stuff you’ve had fixed already, now that you’ve been retired, you would risk that?’ I was just in a mood. ‘Yeah, I would.’ 30 seconds after that she was like, ‘Well, when are you going to start training?’ I was like, ‘Damn, you really want to collect that insurance policy, don’t you?’ [Laughs].

“I think I’m over it now, but sometimes I get the itch. It’s weird. I was at the Rumble, obviously I went to Australia, I was at Elimination Chamber. I have to leave. I might hang for one match or two, but then I have to go. It’s hard for me to watch because I still want to be out there so much. Most of the time, I’m good, I love doing the 1deadMAN show, it’s a lot of fun, but nothing will ever replace getting in the ring and doing that. Things are different too. ‘I would do that so much differently than how they’re doing it,’ then I get caught up in that. I’m like, ‘You’re going to sound like that crusty old timer,’ because I’m all about storytelling.”

On if the desire to come back is bigger around WrestleMania: “Well, yeah, WrestleMania was such a special part of my career. It’s been really difficult sitting up in the suite watching WrestleMania and thinking, ‘I should be getting ready right now.’”

The Undertaker, one of the most iconic figures in professional wrestling history, recently opened up about his retirement and the struggles he faces with the decision. Despite being retired for almost four years now, The Undertaker admits that he often gets the itch to return to the ring.

During an episode of his podcast, “Six Feet Under,” The Dead Man discussed his retirement and the desire to come back. He revealed that retiring was an extremely tough decision for him and that he still struggles with it. The Undertaker shared a personal moment he had with his wife, Michelle McCool, where he expressed his thoughts of returning to wrestling. However, she quickly reminded him of the risks involved and the potential damage it could cause to his body.

While he admits that he occasionally gets the itch to return, The Undertaker acknowledges that he is mostly over it now. He mentioned attending recent WWE events like the Royal Rumble and Elimination Chamber but feeling the need to leave shortly after. Watching the current generation of wrestlers perform makes him yearn to be in the ring again. He expressed his love for doing his “1deadMAN show” but emphasized that nothing can replace the feeling of being in the ring and performing.

The Undertaker also addressed whether the desire to come back intensifies during WrestleMania season. He admitted that WrestleMania holds a special place in his heart and that it has been difficult for him to watch the event from a suite rather than preparing for his own match. WrestleMania was a significant part of his career, and not being able to participate in it anymore is a challenge for him.

Despite these struggles, The Undertaker seems to have come to terms with his retirement. He acknowledged that things are different now and that he sometimes catches himself thinking about how he would do things differently if he were still wrestling. However, he understands that he doesn’t want to become a “crusty old timer” and recognizes the importance of storytelling in professional wrestling.

The Undertaker’s comments provide a glimpse into the emotional journey of a legendary wrestler who has had to come to terms with retirement. While he may occasionally feel the urge to return to the ring, it seems that he has found fulfillment in other aspects of his life, such as his podcast and spending time with his family. The Undertaker’s legacy will forever be etched in the annals of professional wrestling, and fans will continue to cherish his contributions to the industry.
