Speaking on “Busted Open Radio,” Alexander recalled his thought process following his injury and the mental hurdles he faced. He said,

“Giving up the championship, that means a great deal to me, it meant even more because it was such a historic run, and the story didn’t get to complete the way I always envisioned it ending. Giving it up with my family in the ring, in Canada was super tough. I had never defended that championship in Canada as long as I had it throughout that entire time because of COVID and everything else.

“By the time we started running Canadian shows, I popped my tricep. I handed it over and the hardest part was going home — any wrestler knows this. You have that uncertainty in your mind whenever you get injured, am I going to be able to come back, when I come back, am I going to be as good if not better? It’s more of a mental hurdle than the physical pain you have to deal with.”

At Impact Wrestling Bound for Glory, Alexander failed to regain the title he was never beaten for as he lost to current champion Alex Shelley.

Josh Alexander, the former Impact World Champion, recently opened up about the mental challenges he faced after suffering a torn tricep earlier this year. The injury not only caused physical pain but also brought about significant mental anguish for the wrestler.

In March, Alexander was forced to relinquish the Impact World Championship due to his injury, bringing an end to his historic reign as the longest-reigning champion in the company’s history. This was undoubtedly a difficult moment for him, as he had envisioned a different ending to his championship run.

Speaking on “Busted Open Radio,” Alexander shared his thoughts and the mental hurdles he had to overcome during this challenging time. He expressed, “Giving up the championship meant a great deal to me, and it meant even more because it was such a historic run. The story didn’t get to complete the way I always envisioned it ending. Giving it up with my family in the ring, in Canada, was super tough.”

One of the toughest aspects for Alexander was the uncertainty that comes with an injury. He explained that as a wrestler, there is always a fear of not being able to come back or not being as good as before. The mental hurdle of doubting oneself can be more challenging than the physical pain associated with the injury.

Alexander also mentioned that he had never defended the championship in Canada during his entire reign due to COVID-19 and other circumstances. Unfortunately, when Canadian shows finally resumed, he suffered the tricep injury. Handing over the title under such circumstances added to the emotional toll he experienced.

At Impact Wrestling Bound for Glory, Alexander attempted to regain the title he never lost in the ring but was defeated by current champion Alex Shelley. Despite this setback, Alexander’s determination and resilience are evident as he continues to strive for success in his wrestling career.
