WWE had future plans in the pipeline for the return of The Godfather in 2020, however, the worldwide outbreak of COVID-19 threw a wrench in the works.
During a recent segment of his podcast, “Poddin’ Aint’ Easy”, The Godfather revealed his scheduled return to WWE in multiple characters.
“I agreed to participate in the [Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal]… I was slated to enter as Kama and then get eliminated. Afterwards, I was meant to return as the Godfather, again get eliminated. The final act was me coming back as Papa Shango… Unfortunately, the pandemic hit and the plans went kaput,” he enunciated.
Interestingly, 2020 signifies the first year the WWE has not conducted the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal since its inauguration in 2014.
In his podcast, The Godfather also broached the topic of his infamous pimp character. He suggested that while it might not be appropriate for contemporary television, it could find a place on platforms like Netflix.
“Considering their PG content, whenever they see me, the audience invariably wants to ask, ‘Where’s the Hoes?’ Possibly, I might make an appearance… once WWE transitions to Netflix. Considering that I’m still contractually bound to them, I wouldn’t be [surprised]. Perhaps, one might see me make a surprise appearance,” he noted.
As per the latest updates, WWE will align with Netflix in the coming month. U.S. based fans will have access to RAW, whereas fans outside the U.S. will get streaming access to RAW, SmackDown, NXT, and pay-per-views.
