Former WWE star Terri Runnels confessed that though she cherished her involvement in the wrestling industry, competitive wrestling was never her inclination. Runnels stepped into the ring 28 times during her WWE tenure.
Recently, in an episode of the “Stories with Brisco and Bradshaw” podcast, Runnels divulged her disinclination towards wrestling, while revealing the anxiety she felt before each match. Here are some points she addressed:
Her aversion to wrestling: “I revelled in the business, I enjoyed taking hits. But being a wrestler was never my desire… The level of anxiety was so great that I would feel sick until I found out my role for that night, either managing or wrestling. If I was merely managing and taking hits, I would be relieved. On the contrary, if I found out I had to wrestle, I would retreat to the topmost level of the arena to puke.”
Dealing with nervousness during matches: “Even if I had just thrown up from anxiety, you wouldn’t have suspected a thing the moment I walked through that Titantron. Wrestling in a thong only added to the anxiety. But it doesn’t change the fact that I love our industry, it runs in my veins. However, I never should have been thrust into that role that I deeply didn’t want to do.”
