In a recent appearance on Busted Open Radio, professional wrestler Swerve Strickland discussed the manner in which he’s been presented as the World Heavyweight Champion on AEW TV.
Strickland, the reigning AEW World Champion, will face Roderick Strong on an upcoming AEW Dynamite episode. After that, he’s slated to defend his title against Will Ospreay in the Forbidden Door event scheduled for later this month.
Strickland shared, “There is literally a timer for when I’m going to appear on screen. I show up on the screen around three times per evening, typically during different promos. I’m often part of live promo shoots, and I try to maintain a presence on Collision, even when I’m off-site. The most recent promo on Collision, which wrapped up the show, was filmed at my home just the day prior. I aim to stay ready and willing to contribute whatever may be needed. That’s why I often refer to myself as the Boogeyman of pro wrestling; you mention my name and I appear. I appreciate the suspense that comes with not knowing when I might appear next, or even if I’ll appear at all. It’s good to keep the audience guessing sometimes. They may hear my name and start speculating about my involvement in the ongoing storyline. However, I also like to keep things unpredictable, and sometimes it’s best just to let the viewers watch and formulate their own theories.”
