The expiration of Sting’s WWE Legends contract has caused quite a bit of buzz among the internet wrestling community, particularly when it comes to if he will make the jump to AEW. He’s had social media exchanges with Lance Archer, and Cody Rhodes has done nothing but stoke the flames about the Icon going All Elite in some capacity. However, according to sources talking with PWInsider, these tweets by Cody are more hype than anything.
While there was some speculation that Sting would present the winner of the TNT Championship tournament with his belt, that seems to not be the case. Bret Hart was there to present the AEW World Title upon its debut, and Sting’s WCW history would make it a match. While that doesn’t seem to be happening, there’s nothing stopping the company from acquiring Sting’s services in the future, and Cody seemingly has something in mind. Could the WCW all-timer transition into a manager’s role like Jake The Snake and Arn Anderson? It’s certainly something to think about.
