During one segment, NXT Champion Trick Williams took the mic, but his speech was interrupted by Meta Four. Gallus assaulted Williams, and although Je’Von Evans tried to come to his rescue, his attempts were unsuccessful.
Lexis King entered the ring for a match. Following him was Mr. Stone who remained silent and just pointed towards the tron, triggering Dante Chen’s entrance amid thunderous applause.
In the match that followed, Dante Chen emerged victorious against Lexis King.
Jaida Parker and Fallon Henley have made it to the NXT North American Women’s Title ladder match during NXT Battleground, after defeating Brinley Reece and Thea Hail respectively.
There’s a change in the North American Title number one contender’s triple threat match: Joe Coffey now fills in for Ivar. Both Coffey and Wes Lee were announced as victors in a recent match, setting the stage for Coffey vs. Lee vs. Oba Femi at NXT Battleground.
In the NXT Tag Team Titles match, Axiom and Nathan Frazer faced off against Stacks and Luca Crusifino. The reigning champions held their ground, even as The OC and No Quarter Catch Crew joined the fray.
In the highlight match of the evening, Karmen Petrovic and Natalya triumphed over Shayna Baszler and Lola Vice. Post the match, Lola betrayed Baszler and attacked her. However, Baszler recovered and choked out Lola, leading Ava to set up a match between the pair for NXT Battleground. Baszler confirmed that their battle will be an NXT Underground format. Nonetheless, some fans might have missed this development, as a portion of the audience had begun to leave the venue by then.
Unexpectedly, Roxanne Perez’s opponent for NXT Battleground was kept a secret from the audience during a live segment slated for next week’s episode.
