During a recent visit to the “Busted Open Radio” podcast, legendary wrestler Scott Steiner disclosed a terrifying ordeal with a life-threatening injury to his throat. This he received during an otherwise typical match in Puerto Rico.

Steiner reminisced about the injury, expressing that initially, he understated its severity. Unfortunately, it escalated into a catastrophic situation in no time.

Here are some excerpts from the podcast:

Speaking about his decision to seek medical help: “It was peculiar. I began to feel cold, and swallowing became a struggle when I attempted to eat. Despite hoping a hot shower might help, it brought me no relief. I started to shiver uncontrollably, which led me to eventually ring the ambulance…I coincidentally ended up in the same hospital where Bruiser Brody passed away…I spoke with the attending doctor who chillingly informed me, ‘You’ve got five hours to live.’”

Discussing his unexpected coma post-surgery: “My first memory is of waking up as they removed the breathing tube from my throat… I later discovered that I had been in a coma for two days. It was unlike any other surgical experience I had undergone.”
