One of Ring of Honor’s first champions also holds the dubious honor of being one of the organization’s first fallen champions. John “Xavier” Bedoya Jr., the second man to ever hold the ROH Championship, was often overlooked as a building block of the indie giant but had classic matches with every major contender in his day. Unlike a lot of his contemporaries, the competitor remained on the indie circuit until his pro wrestling retirement in 2011, and many newer fans are discovering him for the first time under tragic circumstances.
Xavier died this past weekend, and the promotion has put together a very special episode of the ROH Honor List showing off his accomplishments. ROH also encourages fans to contribute to the John Xavier Bedoya Memorial Fund if they have the means. The GoFundMe has gotten over $22,000 of support so far that will go towards the Bedoya family in this tragic time.
