Paul Heyman and Roman Reigns made an appearance on ESPN to promote WWE SummerSlam over the summer, where Stephen A. Smith asked Heyman if he believed he was a superior manager to Bobby Heenan during the interview.

“I’m the GOAT. Screw [Bobby Heenan], he’s dead. Jimmy Hart is still alive, which proves God doesn’t answer my prayers,” said Heyman.

Those comments didn’t go over well with Ric Flair, who had this to say on Wrestling Observer Radio:

“I know Dangerously [Heyman] was being funny on TV, but he was on First Take and Stephen A goes, ‘what did you think of Bobby Heenan?’ [Heyman] goes, ‘Ah, he’s dead. Who cares.’ Everybody goes, ‘That’s to get heat.’ It got heat with me. The answer is, ‘Yeah, he’s the greatest of all time.’ It didn’t get over with me at all. He’s just being a heel. Be a heel on me. Don’t say something stupid about somebody who is the greatest of all time.”

In a recent interview on ESPN, Paul Heyman and Roman Reigns were promoting WWE SummerSlam when Stephen A. Smith asked Heyman if he believed he was a superior manager to Bobby Heenan. Heyman’s response was controversial, as he boldly claimed, “I’m the GOAT. Screw [Bobby Heenan], he’s dead. Jimmy Hart is still alive, which proves God doesn’t answer my prayers.”

These comments did not sit well with legendary wrestler Ric Flair, who expressed his disapproval on Wrestling Observer Radio. Flair stated, “I know Dangerously [Heyman] was being funny on TV, but he was on First Take and Stephen A goes, ‘what did you think of Bobby Heenan?’ [Heyman] goes, ‘Ah, he’s dead.

The exchange between Heyman and Flair highlights the ongoing debate among wrestling fans about who truly deserves the title of the greatest manager of all time. Bobby Heenan is widely regarded as one of the most talented and influential managers in professional wrestling history. Known for his quick wit, sharp tongue, and ability to generate heat with the audience, Heenan managed numerous legendary wrestlers such as Andre the Giant, Ric Flair, and Mr. Perfect.

On the other hand, Paul Heyman has also made a significant impact in the wrestling industry. Heyman is best known for his role as the advocate for Brock Lesnar and his work as the creative force behind Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW). Heyman’s ability to cut captivating promos and create compelling storylines has earned him a dedicated fan base and respect from his peers.

While both Heyman and Heenan have their own unique styles and contributions to the wrestling world, it is ultimately up to the fans to decide who they believe is the greatest manager of all time. Wrestling is a subjective art form, and different individuals may have different opinions based on their personal preferences and experiences.

In the end, it is important to remember that these debates are part of what makes professional wrestling so engaging and entertaining. The passion and loyalty of the fans fuel these discussions, and it is through these debates that the legacies of wrestling legends like Bobby Heenan and Paul Heyman continue to thrive.
