Rhea Ripley On Almost Quitting WWE, Making History At Mania

Speaking in an interview with Mumbai newspaper Mid-Day, current NXT Women’s Champion Rhea Ripley discussed her remarkable ascension to the top of the black and gold brand and how it almost didn’t happen. Firstly, growing up in Australia, going to America to wrestle seemed like a pipedream. “When I first started I dreamt of coming to WWE but did not see it much as a possibility.”
Once she finally got here, her choice to leave her support structure behind weighed on her. “When you are away from family and friends at the Performance Center, and to think that I was not doing as well as I should be or being told that I could do better started getting to me and I did think about quitting a few times.” Ultimately, Rhea credits WWE’s top of the line training and coaches for keeping her in the game.
Thank goodness they did, as Rhea is about to make her mark on the Grandest Stage of Them All.
It’s insane! The easiest way to describe my journey so far in the last 6-8 months in WWE has been insane! To be the first woman to defend the NXT title at Wrestlemania is awesome and I love making history. Facing the Rumble winner Charlotte is cool and different and I like that.
Rhea also seemed amicable to adding her NXT rival into the equation if it came to that. “I honestly would not mind going against Bianca. Everybody deserves a WrestleMania moment and if she is added, I am not going to complain.” With just a month to go before the show of shows, here’s hoping that the EST can join Rhea on the big stage.
