IMPACT Wrestling might be aiming for the fences with its new target on the free agent market.

According to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select, IMPACT Wrestling is “heavily” interested in signing Adam Scherr, formerly known as Braun Strowman in WWE.

Ross Sapp reports that the company has been pushing to acquire Scherr for “over a month”, and there’s an internal belief that the two sides will reach an agreement soon. The report emphasizes that an actual deal has not been confirmed, though IMPACT sources believe he’ll wind up on the roster. Ross Sapp also reported that Scherr had at least previously talked with AEW.

WWE released Strowman, a former Universal Champion, on June 2 in what was seen as the most surprising cuts among several others. Strowman had been one of the company’s top stars for a few years, and he won the both the Money in the Bank Match and the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal, among other accomplishments.

Scherr was featured at EC3’s “Free The Narrative II” event over the weekend, and the event marked his return to wrestling.

Scherr’s future has been the subject of rumors ever since, and though some reports have linked him to AEW, this new update offers some details on the market for his services.
