During a recent edition of “The Nikki & Brie Show,” Nikki Garcia revealed that she actually thought about joining AEW not long after Mercedes Mone joined the company in March.
AEW President Tony Khan addressed this on the “Battleground Podcast.” He said,
“Since we’ve been lifting so much, we always say, we always start to get that wrestling mindset, ‘We’re going to go back and do this story and cut this promo.’ You get it, but how serious I got where I was like, ‘Okay, I think I can do maybe a year at AEW and I can do it every week.’ When I saw Mercedes [Mercedes Mone] debut and cut her promo, that line stuck with me, ‘Here, we’re going to make the evolution worldwide.’ I was like, ‘They do.’ It goes into many leagues, is what she means, it doesn’t have to be at one place. It can be at all these places where all these women are wrestling at. I go, ‘Brie, I think I can do it for a year. I can do it here to here and go every week.’ Then, I thought of Matteo. I had a good week of like, ‘This is it. I’m going to call Tony Khan. I’m your girl. I will commit.’ Then, I was like, ‘I can’t do that to my son right now. He needs me,’” she said.
In a recent episode of “The Nikki & Brie Show,” Nikki Garcia, also known as Nikki Bella, revealed that she had considered joining All Elite Wrestling (AEW) shortly after Mercedes Martinez joined the company in March. This revelation caught the attention of AEW President Tony Khan, who addressed the matter on the “Battleground Podcast.”
Khan shared his thoughts on Nikki’s potential interest in joining AEW, stating that he understands the wrestling mindset that comes with being involved in the industry. He mentioned how the passion for wrestling can sometimes lead individuals to consider new opportunities and challenges. Khan also acknowledged the impact of Mercedes Martinez’s debut and her powerful promo, where she emphasized AEW’s commitment to revolutionizing women’s wrestling worldwide.
Nikki’s interest in joining AEW stemmed from her belief that the evolution of women’s wrestling doesn’t have to be limited to one promotion. She recognized that there are talented female wrestlers across various leagues and felt inspired by the idea of contributing to this evolution. Nikki even contemplated committing to AEW for a year and appearing on their weekly shows.
However, after giving it serious thought, Nikki ultimately decided against pursuing this opportunity at the time. Her decision was influenced by her role as a mother to her son, Matteo. She realized that her son needed her presence and support, which took priority over her wrestling aspirations.
Nikki’s consideration of joining AEW highlights the growing appeal and reputation of the promotion. AEW has gained recognition for its focus on showcasing talented wrestlers, both male and female, and providing them with creative freedom. The promotion has become an attractive option for wrestlers looking for new challenges and opportunities outside of the traditional wrestling landscape.
AEW has been successful in attracting top talent from other promotions, and Nikki Bella’s potential interest further demonstrates the company’s ability to capture the attention of established names in the industry. This not only adds to AEW’s star power but also enhances the overall quality of their product.
While Nikki Bella ultimately decided against joining AEW at this time, her consideration serves as a testament to the promotion’s growing influence and reputation within the wrestling industry. AEW continues to make strides in revolutionizing professional wrestling, and their commitment to showcasing women’s wrestling is evident in the impact they have had on wrestlers like Nikki and Mercedes Martinez.
As the wrestling landscape continues to evolve, it will be interesting to see how AEW’s roster grows and how they continue to shape the future of professional wrestling. With their focus on providing a platform for talented wrestlers and their commitment to innovation, AEW is poised to make a significant impact on the industry for years to come.
