Speaking with the “Undrafted AllStarz Podcast,” Big E recalled the advice Wight gave Kingston which the AEW correspondent would later apologize for. He said,

“We had like Big Show pulling Kofi aside, ‘What are you doing with those two? You’re wasting your career.’ He came back later and apologized because sometimes people don’t see the vision. They don’t see what you see.”

Kingston has been feuding with Viking Raider Ivar in recent weeks, who has continued to be used on TV despite Ivar’s tag-team partner Erik being injured.

In the world of professional wrestling, alliances and partnerships play a crucial role in shaping the careers of wrestlers. One such alliance that gained immense popularity is The New Day, consisting of Kofi Kingston, Big E, and Xavier Woods. However, it has recently come to light that AEW’s Paul Wight, also known as Big Show during his WWE tenure, once advised Kofi Kingston to leave his New Day allies behind.

The New Day was formed in 2014 and quickly became a fan-favorite group in the WWE. They achieved success not only in the tag-team division but also individually, with Kofi Kingston winning the WWE Championship in 2019. Their unique blend of charisma, athleticism, and entertaining promos endeared them to fans worldwide.

During an interview on the “Undrafted AllStarz Podcast,” Big E revealed that Big Show had pulled Kofi Kingston aside and expressed his belief that Kingston was wasting his career by being associated with The New Day. However, Big Show later apologized for his comments, acknowledging that sometimes people fail to see the vision and potential that others possess.

This incident sheds light on the challenges wrestlers face when it comes to making career decisions. While alliances and groups can provide support and opportunities, there may be instances where individual wrestlers are advised to explore different paths. In this case, Big Show’s advice to Kofi Kingston highlights the differing perspectives within the wrestling industry.

Despite the advice, Kofi Kingston has continued to thrive within The New Day and has recently been involved in a feud with Viking Raider Ivar. This feud has showcased Kingston’s abilities as a singles competitor while his tag-team partner, Xavier Woods, recovers from an injury. It demonstrates that even within a successful group, individual opportunities can arise and allow wrestlers to showcase their skills in different ways.

The wrestling industry is constantly evolving, and wrestlers must navigate through various challenges and decisions to carve out successful careers. The advice given by Big Show to Kofi Kingston serves as a reminder that different individuals may have contrasting opinions on career paths. Ultimately, it is up to the wrestlers themselves to determine what is best for their careers and to pursue opportunities that align with their goals and aspirations.
