Emmy-winner Paul Walter Hauser, as previously noted, is among the forty competitors in the upcoming MLW Battle Riot VI match. The champion of this match will then get a chance to vie for the MLW World Title.
Hauser recently interacted with Sports Illustrated, giving a deeper look into his decision to join the match and his determination to win.
Highlights from his interaction are provided below:
Discussing his role as Chris Farley in a biopic, Hauser said, “Playing Chris Farley is something deeply personal to me. I couldn’t mess this up even if I tried. People’s opinion about the film can be subjective. But as for my part, I’m putting my heart into it, it’s embedded in my DNA. I will give my everything.”
When asked how his involvement in MLW came about, he revealed, “My wrestle with Sami at the 2300 Arena during the WrestleCon weekend led to this opportunity. The footage of our fight ended up all over the internet. I even had people from Hollywood questioning my actions. Sami used a pizza cutter on my head, which surely grabbed some attention. I gave my best throughout the match and with a little help from Sandman managed to outdo Sami. Sami, respecting our fight, shook my hand afterwards. I believe I earned his respect and that’s what paved my way to the Battle Riot invitation.”
On agreeing to join the match, he shared, “I wouldn’t be participating if I thought I had no chance of winning. Facing Kojima would be a privilege. He’s achieved so much, including two-time MLW championships, and also being a tag team champion with [Shigeo] Okumura. I will challenge him, but with deep respect.”
