Earlier in the year, the Oklahoma State Athletic Commission sent out a cautionary statement pertaining to All Elite Wrestling (AEW) about the participation of Nyla Rose in a women’s wrestling match.

Nyla Rose, a transgender woman, competed against Alejandra Lion during the Ring of Honor (ROH) tapings in December 2023. Speaking recently with AEW broadcaster, Renee Paquette, Rose talked about the substantial backing she’s received from followers, noting that it is due to her positive portrayal on television.

During the conversation, she revealed, “It’s such a peculiar and unexpected situation. I was certainly caught off guard, I was absolutely unaware about any of that. The credit though must go to our company and our group who were like the ozone layer up there, shielding me, and I guess, all of us. I was entirely ignorant about what was happening. They were like, ‘Hey, there’s something emerging, you should be prepared for this.’ [I only discovered] just before, solely because it was going to make headline news. Our group was there, defending and safeguarding. I was agitated because it compelled me to become baby [laughs]. I had some very malevolent plans on the slab and everyone was so kind and loving and accepting that I had no option. The evil cloak has been stowed away for some time, I owe you guys as you were so supportive to me.”

Nyla Rose, an erstwhile AEW Women’s World Champion, suffered a defeat from Kris Statlander in the Owen Hart Foundation 2024 Women’s Tournament Quarter Final.
