Mercedes Mone made her AEW debut on the March 13th “Big Business” themed episode of Dynamite, and she’s said to be under a multi-year deal with the company.
According to a report from Fightful Select, one of the original pitches for Mone’s debut was for it to take place on the Jacksonville Homecoming episode of Dynamite.
As we previously reported here on eWn, Naomi, Tamina and Bayley attended the show to support their good friend. It it said that the three were not kept particularly secret. The three women visited with AEW talent and the company assured everyone that they would not be filmed or shown on camera.
It’s worth noting that part of the deal allows Mone to have her own locker room which AEW has offered to some other female talent in the past.
As of last month, New Japan Pro Wrestling sources indicated that they had “significant plans and hopes” regarding working with Mone. She was originally planned to win the NJPW Strong Women’s Championship in the match that she suffered an injury during.
Finally, Mone wrote and produced her new theme song. It is said that her previous theme was almost note for note a copy of Kriss Kross’ “Jump” song. “Jump” used a couple of other samples that AEW would have to have cleared in addition to the Kriss Kross song. It is said that AEW officials are happy that Mone’s “CEO” nickname was emphasized in the new theme.
Mercedes Mone, the professional wrestler, recently made her debut in All Elite Wrestling (AEW) on the March 13th episode of Dynamite. This marked the beginning of her multi-year contract with the company. Mone’s debut was initially planned for the Jacksonville Homecoming episode of Dynamite, according to a report from Fightful Select.
During her debut, Mone received support from her friends Naomi, Tamina, and Bayley, who attended the show. Despite their presence, AEW ensured that they remained low-key and were not filmed or shown on camera. This highlights the camaraderie and friendship among wrestlers across different promotions.
One interesting aspect of Mone’s contract with AEW is that she has been given her own locker room. This is not uncommon for female talent in the company, as AEW has offered this privilege to other female wrestlers in the past. Providing a separate space for female wrestlers emphasizes the company’s commitment to creating a comfortable and inclusive environment for everyone.
Prior to joining AEW, Mone had significant plans and hopes regarding working with New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW). Sources from NJPW revealed that they had envisioned Mone winning the NJPW Strong Women’s Championship in a match. Unfortunately, she suffered an injury during that match, which altered the original plans. However, this indicates the high regard and potential NJPW saw in Mone’s abilities.
In addition to her wrestling skills, Mone also showcases her musical talents. She wrote and produced her own theme song for her AEW debut. Interestingly, her previous theme song closely resembled Kriss Kross’ “Jump” song, necessitating clearance for samples used in it. AEW officials are pleased with the emphasis on Mone’s “CEO” nickname in her new theme song, highlighting her strong and authoritative persona.
Mercedes Mone’s debut in AEW has generated excitement among wrestling fans. With her multi-year deal, separate locker room, and potential collaborations with NJPW, Mone’s future in the wrestling industry looks promising. Her musical talents further add to her appeal as a well-rounded performer. As fans eagerly await her upcoming matches and storylines, it is clear that Mercedes Mone is a rising star in the world of professional wrestling.
