In the latest installment of her “Mone Mag” newsletter, Mercedes Mone, TBS Champion, shared her thoughts on the circulating rumors of Shane McMahon potentially making his way to AEW.
Mone voiced her conviction that AEW’s lineup would warmly receive Shane if he decided to become part of the company.
Here are a couple of noteworthy points from the newsletter:
Concerning Shane McMahon transitioning to AEW: “Witnessing Shane’s remarkable fervor and enthusiasm for wrestling leads me to believe that he still has numerous things left to accomplish in this field. Does this mean Shane might be considering a move to AEW? If so, I’m all for it and I’m sure I speak for the rest of our team as well. Ultimately, it feels like Shane is meant to be a part of the wrestling industry. It’s going to be a disappointing scenario if he decides to permanently retire from wrestling. I can empathize with the kind of heartbreak one experiences when they suddenly become detached from something they adore. I believe Shane might be experiencing similar sorrow.”
Regarding the Mr. McMahon Netflix documentary: “Now, let’s address the formidable elephant in the room: the Vince McMahon Netflix documentary. After anticipating it for so long, I must admit that my expectations weren’t entirely met after watching all six episodes. There wasn’t much revelation for me in it. However, the journey of working under Vince’s leadership, who I can best describe as a radical genius, surely left me astounded. He managed to skyrocket wrestling’s fame to a whole new level, creating a unique universe that fans have cherished for years on end. Vince made wrestling larger than life itself, daring every possible avenue and failing many times. Today’s state of the wrestling business is a testament to his innovative thinking, and that’s what I truly appreciated about the documentary.”
Reflecting on an incident with Vince McMahon: “This could be a Mone Memory, but since we’re already discussing backstage TV taping incidents and Vince McMahon, I remember a confusing episode during a match with Nia Jax. During the match, Vince accidentally signalled the referee to ring the bell way too early over the headset. We were bewildered but went along with it. Post-match, I remember questioning Triple H about the strange occurrence. After learning it was a mistake, Triple H dared me to confront Vince about it, which I did. Vince owned up to his error and we all had a good laugh about it.”
