On his YouTube channel, Maven shared his experiences on why he found the Walls of Jericho the most painful move in his WWE career.
Maven described the first time he experienced the Walls of Jericho in a match: “I had no idea what the Walls felt like. It reminds me of when you bend your finger back to the point where it can’t go any further. That’s what it felt like when I saw my boots from an angle I had never seen before. When Chris locked in the move and then sunk in a bit more, it was, I assume, meant to teach me a lesson. The pain was unbearable, the most I’d ever felt in the ring. That moment remains etched in my memory.”
Maven also spoke about a match with Chris Jericho three years later. Now considered more than just the ‘Tough Enough’ newbie, he once again lost to him and the Walls of Jericho. “This time, the move wasn’t applied as aggressively as the first. I didn’t tell him beforehand for fear of him applying it more fiercely. Once the match was over and we were backstage, I mentioned the painful memory of our first match. To which Chris had grinned, saying ‘Of course, kid. You’ve got to earn your stripes,’ and walked on with a laugh. I believe he did me a favor that night.”
