Having left WWE behind, Ronda Rousey set out on new adventures in ROH and Wrestling REVOLVER. There, she teamed up with Marina Shafir to challenge the duo of Billie Starkz and Athena. Since that competition, Rousey has remained out of the wrestling spotlight.
Shafir reminisced about these experiences during a recent sit-down with Monteasy.
Maintaining the original quote, she expressed, “Well, right from the get-go, I never truly believed it was going to happen, to be completely truthful. I was under the impression that opportunity had passed me by. Yet, it will always hold a special place in my wrestling identity. I take immense pride in the sisterhood we created and everything it represents. I cherish those experiences which will stay with me always. Having the chance to team up and wrestle with her was something I never anticipated. Especially considering the circumstances, it felt surreal. One day, out of nowhere, I get a call from her asking, ‘What are you up to?’ Ronda – I’m grateful to have someone like her in my life, someone who hardly makes excuses and pursues her personal legend relentlessly. Witnessing her journey towards achieving it was inspiring. I had the privilege of being a part of it, which I initially never thought would happen. But it did and I’m still riding that wave. I continue to ruminate about all those unique moments, the minute details, and everything that led up to that significant moment – how effortlessly we worked together, evolved into a smoothly functioning unit the first time we wrestled together. We didn’t even have to make an effort to look united.”
