Maria Kanellis recently appeared on the “Gabby AF” podcast, where she broached several subjects from her personal health battles to her sense of dissatisfaction in her professional life currently.
During the podcast, she expressed her frustration and disappointment: “This past year’s been just awful. I feel very unfulfilled and want to do more. With the health issues and career challenges, I wonder, ‘What’s my purpose? Is this part of my career wrapping up, or should I change my perspective? Do I need to think about moving on and doing something else?’ With my health in question, I’m contemplating if I’m truly living my best life.”
On the topic of quitting wrestling, she said, “I don’t feel unfulfilled when in the ring. My last match was at WrestleMania, and halfway down the ramp, I realized this isn’t it for me. From a business perspective, I believe I could still contribute to wrestling. I want our talent, both male and female, to have longer, happier, and healthier careers. Maybe it’s time to explore something else for a bit.”
When discussing AEW, she said, “I love the idea of a rebellious company making such a significant impact in the wrestling industry. But I need to think about where I fit best and what’s ideal for my family.”
