Lex Luger was a big fan of seeing Sting’s sons involved in an on-screen angle in AEW earlier this month.

On a recent episode of AEW Dynamite, Sting and Darby Allin were attacked by The Young Bucks after Sting and Allin won the AEW Tag Team Championships.

Speaking on a recent edition of his “Lex Expressed” podcast, the wrestling legend opined on Sting’s kids being involved in the angle, Sting’s recent promo talking about his father passing away, and more.

You can check out some highlights from the podcast below:

On the kids being involved in the angle: “My initial feelings are, I was surprised because Sting’s family, especially his boys, have never been involved really. I know the boys have been to a couple of house shows here and there and got a couple of clips on camera, but I was surprised to see them ringside and actually be a part of the angle where they got in the ring. I was very surprised by that. I thought it was pretty neat that they were there. I thought that was really good. I wasn’t shocked at the Young Bucks obviously came in the ring and did what they did. I think they’re just doing good business and setting the matchup the way it needs to be set up. The white suits and the blood, that was an old-school touch right there.”

On Sting’s promo talking about his father passing away: “I knew Lee, his father, who I knew very well, was struggling a little bit but the passing of his dad, wow. The timing of that. He gave a very heartfelt interview about [how] this reminds you of mortality. I thought it was a great interview by Sting in that regard, an emotional one, and I think the match is getting set up the right way.”

In other news, Ricardo Rodriguez was paired with Alberto El Patron in WWE, and he recently appeared on the “Under the Ring” to discuss what it was like working alongside El Patron (Alberto Del Rio in WWE), and more.

You can check out some highlights from the podcast below:

On being aware of who El Patron was before WWE: “I knew of him because I grew up watching Lucha Libre and I first started training in Mexican Lucha Libre, so I was very aware of the Dos Caras family. I was doing, I was like, ‘Hey, who’s this Alberto Del Rio guy.’ And he goes, ‘That’s Dos Caras Junior.’ I was like, ‘What? No way.’ So then I kinda clicked, and I fanboyed a little bit so that was kind of cool.”

On their on-screen pairing: “I wasn’t just the ring announcer, there was times I would get with the agent who would put the match together. Let’s say, Alberto or Cena would be doing promos so they don’t have time to put together the match. And then as the match would happen, I’m calling it, so if you ever see me running back and forth? It’s because I’m calling it to them.”

Lex Luger, a wrestling legend, recently expressed his thoughts on a recent episode of AEW Dynamite where Sting and Darby Allin were attacked by The Young Bucks after winning the AEW Tag Team Championships. Luger shared his surprise at seeing Sting’s sons involved in the on-screen angle and praised the old-school touch of the white suits and blood.

Luger mentioned that Sting’s family, especially his boys, have never been involved in wrestling before. While they have made appearances at a few house shows, Luger was surprised to see them ringside and participating in the angle. He found it neat and thought it added an interesting dynamic to the storyline. Luger also noted that he wasn’t shocked by The Young Bucks’ attack, as it was a strategic move to set up the upcoming match.

The wrestling legend also discussed Sting’s recent promo where he talked about the passing of his father. Luger revealed that he knew Sting’s father, Lee, and was aware of his struggles. He commended Sting for giving a heartfelt interview about mortality and believed that it added depth to the match’s storyline.

In other news, Ricardo Rodriguez, who was paired with Alberto El Patron (Alberto Del Rio in WWE), appeared on the “Under the Ring” podcast to discuss his experience working alongside El Patron. Rodriguez shared that he was familiar with El Patron due to his background in Mexican Lucha Libre and being aware of the Dos Caras family. He admitted to fanboying a little when he discovered that El Patron was Dos Caras Junior.

Rodriguez also revealed that his role went beyond being a ring announcer. He would often work with the agent to put together matches and even called the action during the matches. Rodriguez’s involvement allowed him to have a more hands-on role in shaping the matches and ensuring smooth transitions between promos and in-ring action.
