During a recent appearance on the “Insight” podcast, Kevin Owens lifted the lid about the organization of his wrestling match with “Stone Cold” Steve Austin at WrestleMania 38, his request for a package piledriver move, an amateur video of his assault on Cody Rhodes, and various other topics.

Here are some notable points from the podcast:

Discussing if WWE was always his ultimate ambition, Owens said: “Absolutely. I started watching wrestling at the age of 11 when my dad rented a wrestling tape. Intriguingly, I was captivated from the very first match, particularly by The British Bulldog. As the night progressed, every match gripped my attention but when Shawn Michaels appeared, the smallest wrestler of the night who was also the best, it struck a chord in me. I can clearly remember telling my dad this was what I was going to do in future. Incredibly, they were 100% behind it, purchasing all the pay-per-views for me, letting me stay up to watch Raw and SmackDown.”

On the topic of wrestling with Steve Austin at WrestleMania 39, Owens revealed: “From what I know, Vince originally wanted Austin at WrestleMania in Dallas but the details of his role remained largely uncertain. They had many discussions but the decision kept going back and forth between Vince and Steve. It wasn’t till the day of the show that we knew exactly what was happening. I still consider it the wildest thing I’ve done in my career – nothing could top that.”

Regarding the home video of his onslaught on Cody Rhodes, Owens highlighted: “The idea was Triple H’s. He endeavored to tell it in another way and had the confidence to try out something new. Occasionally, the new methods may not always work but it’s all part of trying new things to avoid repetitiveness and monotony, which are incredibly essential in wrestling.”

Discussing his request for executing the package piledriver, Owens confessed: “I had made numerous attempts in the past, and every time the answer remained the same – No. Not now, not today. Ultimately, I got to do it at Cody on Saturday Night’s Main Event which was pretty amazing.”
