Kane On Social Media’s Role In Wrestling: Our Ability To Connect With Fans Now Is Extremely Beneficial For Everybody

Over the years, professional wrestling has changed quite a lot and become less protected as time has gone on.
On the latest After The Bell podcast with Corey Graves, Kane discusses The Undertaker having an in-depth, out of character interview with Stone Cold Steve Austin on the Broken Skull Sessions on WWE Network. Kane, whose character was heavily reliant on the protection of kayfabe during his early days, discussed feeling that the industry has lost some of its magic in modern times, but also says that the interaction that is now available with the audience is really special and makes today’s day and age something unique.

“Well, I think, like everyone, I have mixed feelings about it. I think overall it’s good when we look at things like social media. I mean, it’s a there’s just the way the world is, the way things are going. And it is kind of a two-edged sword,” he began. “On the one hand, you have the days where everything was very protected and there were certain advantages to that, because part of the allure of the WWE business is the fact that we’re out there throwing twists and turns and trying to keep people guessing as to what’s coming back.
“And I think that we’ve taken some of the pleasure and enjoyment out of the business by people getting so enamored with the business side of things. But when you look at our ability to connect with fans now and really to bring people into our world, I think that’s something that’s extremely beneficial for everybody.”
Kane was last seen on Raw taking the Mandible Claw from “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt, in a brief passing of the torch moment. Kane has also said he’d like to have a retirement match alongside The Undertaker as The Brothers of Destruction.
