John Cena Joins Cast Of Upcoming Political Thriller ‘The Independent’

John Cena is set to continue his success in the world of Hollywood, as he’ll be joining the cast of the upcoming political thriller The Independent, according to a report from Deadline.
The Independent follows the story of “the final weeks of the most consequential presidential election in history,” according to Deadline. Cena will play one of two Presidential candidates, with Kathy Bates portraying the other in the upcoming film.
Cena joins a cast that includes the likes of Brian Cox, Jodie Turner-Smith, and Kathy Bates as well, and marks a bit of a different film for Cena, as he has most notably been previously known for action films or the occasional comedic role. Besides the upcoming The Independent, Cena is also set to star in the upcoming HBO Max series Peacemaker, which features his character from James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad in a starring role.
