WWE television saw the return of Jesse Ventura during the Saturday Night’s Main Event XXXVII, where he served as a contributor to the show’s commentary.
On the “Bill Simmons Podcast,” Ventura recently shared his insights on the significance of his comeback to WWE.
Ventura expressed, “Hell has frozen over because I never imagined that I would find myself back in the WWE — which was once WWF — unless hell froze over. I was reminded of my friend Glenn Fry from the Eagles. When the Eagles split up everyone thought, ‘Well, that’s the end of it. We won’t ever hear an Eagle song again, the conflict between them is too great, reconciliation is impossible.’ But remarkably, Glenn managed to rebuild the bond with Don Henley and before you knew it, they were back together.”
He further added, “Never in my wildest imaginations did I think I’d find myself involved with wrestling again…for me, it’s like completing a full circle of my career. I cannot return to the United States Navy, where I spent my initial six years… that’s not feasible given the age limits.”
Triple H opines that for WWE Superstars, participating in movie and TV roles has become significantly less complicated now that wrestling has become more mainstream and “accepted.”
In a recent conversation on “The Roommates Show,” the WWE’s Chief Creative Officer debated on how wrestling has become increasingly popular among average viewers, thereby creating possibilities for Superstars to partake in side projects.
Triple H stated, “Wrestling is well received now. If a wrestler acts in a movie or TV show, it’s no longer a shock, like ‘What is this wrestler doing in this film?’ It’s become commonplace and people have become more accepting of it.”
He added, “I reckon we’ll see more of this trend over the years. Guys like Roman Reigns, and some of our women too. Rhea Ripley and others come to mind. Particularly in action movies and the superhero genre, if Rhea Ripley isn’t a superhero, I don’t know who is. The same applies to Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill. If they’re not seen as heroes, then what are they?”
