Insights from Claudio Castagnoli on the possibility of an AEW World Title reign and Samoa Joe’s strategy of ‘Nope’

On a recent edition of “The Mark Hoke Show” podcast, Claudio Castagnoli discussed a myriad of topics including a potential AEW World Championship reign.

The prestigious title is currently held by Samoa Joe.

Castagnoli said, “It would mean a lot. That’s what everybody works towards, to be the world champion. I’m just working, being patient, maybe too patient. I think that chance will hopefully come my way and I’ll grab it. I’d be a tremendous representative for the company and be a great world champion. Right now, Joe is the champ, it’s funny, he hasn’t mentioned me of the people who hit the hardest. I think he doesn’t really want to get my attention, which I understand. I want to get Samoa Joe’s attention. I don’t know if he wants my attention. We’ve tangled once or twice. It was fun. I think that match is one that never really happened in Ring of Honor when we were both there, it happened maybe once in WWE. I think we’re due for another one. It would be great. We’ll have a new world champion, too.”

Samoa Joe is notorious for his “nope” spot when it comes to dives, and he discussed his tactic in a recent interview with Sports Illustrated.

Joe is renowned for his habit of walking out of the way when high fliers dive at him, and fans love the heel maneuver.

You can check out some highlights from the interview below:

On his ‘nope’ tactic: “As a small youth in my younger days, if I saw something large or very destructive coming toward me, it was only natural to step aside. It’s not rocket science…The cavemen understood this, too. If you see a rock coming toward you from the top of the hill, move a little to the left.”

On his title reign: “I don’t harp on the fact that I’m not a chosen one. It’s never stopped me from doing anything I wanted to accomplish in this industry. The only people who believe that are the naysayers. I’ve proven them wrong throughout the entirety of my career, and I’ll continue to do so. I knew I was the truth from the get-go. There’s nothing anyone can say that will stop that.”

In a recent interview on “The Mark Hoke Show” podcast, professional wrestler Claudio Castagnoli, also known as Cesaro, discussed various topics, including his aspirations for a potential reign as the AEW World Champion. Currently held by Samoa Joe, the AEW World Championship is one of the most prestigious titles in the wrestling industry.

Castagnoli expressed his desire to become the world champion, stating that it would mean a lot to him. He emphasized that every wrestler works towards achieving this goal and that he is patiently waiting for his opportunity. Castagnoli believes that he would be an excellent representative for the company and a great world champion. He also mentioned that Samoa Joe, the current champion, has not acknowledged him as one of the hardest-hitting wrestlers. Castagnoli speculated that Joe might not want to get his attention, but he is determined to get Samoa Joe’s attention and have a match with him. Castagnoli feels that their previous encounters in Ring of Honor and WWE were not enough and that they are due for another match. He concluded by expressing his belief that a new world champion would emerge from their potential clash.

Samoa Joe is known for his unique tactic of evading high-flying moves, famously referred to as his “nope” spot. In an interview with Sports Illustrated, Joe explained his reasoning behind this maneuver. He stated that if he sees something large or potentially destructive coming towards him, it is only natural to step aside. He compared it to the instinct of cavemen who would move away from a rock rolling down a hill. Fans appreciate this heel tactic, and it has become one of Joe’s signature moves.

When asked about his title reign, Samoa Joe dismissed the notion of being a chosen one and emphasized that it has never stopped him from achieving his goals in the wrestling industry. He acknowledged that there are naysayers who believe he is not deserving of success, but he has proven them wrong throughout his career. Joe has always believed in his abilities and remains confident in his skills as a wrestler.

Both Claudio Castagnoli and Samoa Joe have shown their determination and passion for the wrestling industry. As they continue to pursue their goals, fans eagerly anticipate the possibility of a clash between these two talented wrestlers and the potential for a new world champion to emerge.
