Pat McAfee made a comeback at the WWE Royal Rumble 2024 pay-per-view event on Saturday where he joined Michael Cole and Corey Graves at the commentary desk.

McAfee participated in the men’s Royal Rumble match as the #22 entrant, but eliminated himself rather than face Bron Breakker and Omos.

McAfee later tweeted, “Getting to call wrestling again with the 🐐, @MichaelCole, and @WWEGraves was an absolute blast. I feel like a kid every time I get the chance to go back… so much fun and so much talent in one building.. Every. Time. Can’t wait for Championship Sunday, then Overreaction Monday.. I’m so damn lucky to be living this dumbass life. It’s truly so so dumb. None of it makes sense and tonight was a reminder of that for me. I truly appreciate it all. Massive Thank You for saying Hello when I came out.. My soul needed it more than you know. About my Royal Rumble appearance.. I quickly realized I didn’t deserve a shot at the Main Event of WrestleMania. That message came in the form of a 7’3” man.. and another rather intense gentleman who was clocked at 23MPH coming off the ropes. I didn’t earn a spot in there. We all knew it. What if I would’ve won? That’d be the rudest thing of all time. Couldn’t let there be a chance of that.. obviously.”

Former NFL player turned sports commentator Pat McAfee made a surprise return to the WWE at the Royal Rumble 2024 pay-per-view event. McAfee, known for his charismatic personality and love for professional wrestling, joined Michael Cole and Corey Graves at the commentary desk for the event.

McAfee’s involvement in the Royal Rumble match itself was short-lived. He entered as the #22 entrant but decided to eliminate himself rather than face Bron Breakker and Omos. Despite his early exit from the match, McAfee expressed his excitement and gratitude for being able to call wrestling again alongside Cole and Graves.

In a tweet following the event, McAfee stated, “Getting to call wrestling again with @MichaelCole and @WWEGraves was an absolute blast. I feel like a kid every time I get the chance to go back… so much fun and so much talent in one building.”

He also expressed his appreciation for the warm reception he received from the WWE Universe, saying, “Massive Thank You for saying Hello when I came out.. My soul needed it more than you know.”

Reflecting on his Royal Rumble appearance, McAfee humbly acknowledged that he didn’t deserve a shot at the Main Event of WrestleMania. He humorously mentioned encountering a 7’3″ man (presumably referring to Omos) and another intense gentleman who was clocked at 23MPH coming off the ropes (possibly Bron Breakker). McAfee recognized that he hadn’t earned a spot in the main event and didn’t want to take away an opportunity from someone who deserved it more.

Despite not having a lengthy stint in the Royal Rumble match, McAfee’s presence added an extra layer of excitement for fans. His passion for professional wrestling and ability to entertain on the microphone made him a beloved figure in the WWE Universe.

As McAfee continues to balance his career as a sports commentator and his occasional appearances in the wrestling world, fans can look forward to more entertaining moments from this charismatic personality. Whether it’s calling matches or making surprise in-ring appearances, McAfee’s love for the industry shines through, making him a fan favorite in both the NFL and WWE communities.
