In a recent episode of the podcast, “Eyes up Here,” Francine unpacked the finer details of the ECW’s One Night Stand pay-per-view revivals and traced the trajectory of her decision to abstain from the second event.
The podcast had accentuated several fascinating highlights, some of which are briefed below:
Concerning her absence at the 2006 ECW One Night Stand, Francine explained, “They approached me, extending an optional invitation stating I could be there, but without a booking. My response was that without any remuneration, I wouldn’t go down that road. I recall Tommy (Dreamer) suggesting it would be wise for me to attend, and my response was a firm no. Therefore, I didn’t make an appearance. Why should I show up, dart out at the climax, and exhibit myself in front of the camera without any financial gain? That’s absurd. It was our inaugural reunion, and a year later when the audience witnessed it, the charm clearly wasn’t the same. I would have been a part of it if there was a booking and I was being rewarded. However, I saw no reason without those elements.”
When pondered if the series should have ended after the 2005 pay-per-view, Francine opined, “I truly believe they could have revived us each year as a unique pay-per-view event. I disapprove of the show’s comeback under their banner. The whole scenario ended in chaos. If the comeback was executed in the manner we were initially told, it could’ve been a successful endeavor.”
