During last night’s Monday Night RAW, the wedding between Bobby Lashley and Lana finally took place, and while it was filled with a ton of spectacle, not everyone enjoyed it. Throughout the criticism of the event, former WWE writer Tom Casiello took to social media to say that regardless of who wrote the event, it likely wouldn’t have changed too much.
Initially responding to a tweet saying that he would have done a better story, Casiello said that anyone who has worked with WWE before would know that the wedding segment would have been the same no matter who was writing for it. According to the former writer, that’s because everything is ultimately shaped and written for the vision of Vince McMahon.
While Casiello didn’t name drop McMahon specifically, it’s hard to imagine he’s referring to anyone else when describing his experience at WWE. You can check out the tweets below.
While I appreciate the vote of confidence, those of us who survived that place know that it would have been the exact same segment no matter who the writer was assigned to it. https://t.co/oFIuiJ6grU

I mean, there may have been slight tweaks. You’d have two different first drafts, based off the same premise/concept. So individual lines might have been different. But the same person edited that promo for the final draft of the script.
As for the soap thing…

…once you’re hired there, it’s made quite clear to you that any former experience you have is inconsequential. You must relearn at the feet of one man only. Why, I remember the day he invented the concept of a supporting character. It was epic to behold. 🤣
