In response to Hulk Hogan’s open support for Donald Trump, Michigan’s current Governor, Gretchen Whitmer, has expressed her admiration for the famed wrestler, the Iron Sheik. She made this revelation as Hogan publicly backed the ex-President at the Republican National Convention, an event that also featured Kid Rock, a fellow Hall of Fame inductee.
The question about Hogan’s political stance came up during a recent interaction with Governor Whitmer. She showed her taste for wrestling by disclosed her admiration for The Iron Sheik, mistakenly presuming he was from Lansing, Michigan.
This misperception stems from the fact that although the original Sheik hailed from Lansing, the Iron Sheik is actually Iranian-born.
Governor Whitmer, who assumed office in 2019, was re-elected for her role as the 49th Michigan Governor by defeating the Republican candidate, Tudor Dixon, in 2022.
In 2020, she was subjected to a kidnap attempt which led to the arrest of 14 affiliates of the ‘Wolverine Watchmen’. Out of these, nine either pleaded guilty or were found guilty.
19 years and 7 months of jail time was sentenced to Barry Croft for his involvement in the attempted kidnap. Croft had previously iterated that he was given a divine permit to kill and had argued that the investigations carried out on Trump were part of an “uprising”. Trump later stirred controversy by baselessly denying the planned kidnap of Whitmer as a falsehood.
